Visual Merchandiser

The first of its kind in Australia, Gewürzhaus Herb & Spice Merchants is a young and growing food retailer, with seven stores in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra. We mill and blend over 100 bespoke spice, salt, sugar and tea blends for our self-scoop concept stores, supported by high quality home wares crafted predominately in Europe and America as well as one off vintage items.

Purpose of the Role:
The Visual Merchandiser is responsible for the visual presentation of the Gewürzhaus retail stores. They lead the charge from inception through to the execution of all seasonal changes, including the window displays. The Visual Merchandiser is also responsible for maintaining the daily excellence in store presentation through frequent store visits to optimise displays based on results.


  • Increase sales through effective visual merchandising in stores and monitor on a weekly basis via sales and stock reports
  • Brainstorm concepts and designs for seasonal displays, including window and in-store
  • Develop an installation plan for each seasonal bump in, including a mood board, props required and distribution plan
  • Sourcing of all props and managing production of collateral and crafting
  • Clear communication to all stores via photographing and documenting install, and creating a guide for stores to follow.

What are we looking for:

  • Degree level qualification in Design, Arts, Visual Merchandising or other relevant discipline
  • Minimum 2-3 years visual presentation experience
  • Project management experience with exceptional attention to detail, with an eye for design
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, lifting, working on a ladder and undertaking out of hours installation, as well as travelling to interstate stores
  • Strong understanding of design and styling
  • Highly developed time management skills
  • Fully competent in Adobe Creative Suite & Microsoft Office Suite.


Supply Chain Manager

Purpose of the Role:
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for reducing costs across the supply chain function of the business whilst maintaining the consistent, on-time supply of inventory to match the business’s demands. This incorporates raw materials, finished products and packaging. The role will drive the production plan for both internal and external production facilities, increasing efficiencies and implementing initiatives to reduce costs. The SCM will also be responsible for the logistics of all inventory both inbound, inter-store and outbound, covering international import and export as required.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Plan production cycles on a rolling 6-month schedule, ensuring the supply of all materials are delivered to the production facilities adopting the “just-in-time” method
  • Oversee internal production, warehousing, fulfilment and distribution processes, teams and facilities
  • Organise the logistics of the finished products from both internal and external production facilities to each sales channel, including retail outlets and wholesale customers, ensuring zero outages
  • Maintain accurate stock-on-hand data to ensure stock holdings are kept to a minimum, without compromising shelf availability
  • Research and implement cost saving initiatives, whilst maintaining the integrity of the product quality
  • Ensure the compliance of local food labelling laws is adhered to
  • Carefully monitor supplier invoices, ensuring they match our purchase orders and that quoted costs match actual costs charged
  • Provide the business with reports to assist in range optimisation and effective management of stock-on-hand
  • Prepare a monthly stock holdings report, detailing the stock churn and put forward recommendations for optimisation


  • Forecast appropriate inventory levels by SKU to meet sales projections, maintaining a rolling 6-month supply plan
  • Manage domestic and international logistics, optimise to reduce costs
  • Negotiate buy price and trading terms to maximise profits and reduce cash exposure
  • Ensure all inbound products are assessed for tariff concessions and lodged if applicable
  • Utilise the Inter-store delivery program to move stock to maintain optimum levels in all outlets
  • Ensure zero outage of core products
  • Work with our team of buyers, to ensure seasonal products are ordered early enough to ensure on-time delivery and maximise the savings by utilizing early-order discounts
  • Development of cost saving initiatives across the supply chain


  • Provide the business with accurate reports to best illustrate the current stock positions
  • Work within the cash flow model, ensuring all longer-term stock positions are modelled within these guidelines
  • Ensure all products have an accurate COGS figure and are meeting margin expectations at all times


  • Provide a supply chain perspective on key business decisions
  • Develop policies and procedures for all supply chain functions of the business, ensuring all process are documented accurately
  • Maintain detailed and effective communication with all stakeholders, internal and external
  • Aid setting up monthly S&OP processes and meetings
  • Build the supply chain strategy for the business
  • Sit as a senior leader in the business and provide leadership to the business as required

What are we looking for:

  • Business/ Commerce or Supply Chain degree
  • Track record in managing multiple, highly detailed projects
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong analytical mind
  • Experience in supply chain functions in an FMCG or retail environment
  • Ability to reduce cost and implement cost saving initiatives
  • Ability to deliver programs with the highest degree of accuracy, on time and on budget.
  • Knowledge and understanding of key supply chain principles.
  • Ability to identify and improve processes to ensure seamless inventory delivery at store level.

Marketing and Communications Coordinator

We have an opportunity for an experienced Marketing and Communications Coordinator to join our growing business, to develop, analyse, manage and execute all marketing and communications.


  • Manage all marketing calendar campaigns and activities from inception through to post campaign reporting
  • Contribute to the creative development of campaigns, product development and other exciting initiatives
  • Plan and organise detailed briefings on all marketing calendar activities to the retail and support teams
  • Write creative content for social media, product descriptions, EDM and other brand copy
  • Deliver all Social Media, EDM’s and other related communications in line with the strategy
  • Manage and execute the Gewürzhaus website
  • Manage the development, design, approval, production and distribution of all required marketing collateral

  • Business/ Commerce degree with Marketing major related degree
