Sticky Chai French Toast with Blistered Figs

Raj’s Majestic Chai Masala

Easy Serves: 4 Prep Time: 15 Mins | Cook Time: 15 Mins


For the French toast:

4 large free-range eggs

1 tbsp honey

125ml full cream milk

1 tsp Gewürzhaus Raj’s Majestic Chai Masala

8 slices sourdough bread (wholemeal preferred)

Pinch of salt



For the blistered figs:

8 figs

50g butter, melted

1 tbsp honey

1 tsp Gewürzhaus Ground Cinnamon

1 tbsp orange juice, plus zest

1 tbsp water

yoghurt (to serve)

1 tbsp Gewürzhaus Cardamom Pistachio Sugar (to serve)

How to Cook

1. Whisk the eggs, honey, milk, chai masala spice and salt in a large shallow dish.

2. Soak the bread slices in the egg mixture for 2 minutes on each side.

3. While the bread is soaking, prepare the figs by slicing them in half lengthways. Place the figs skin side down in a heatproof dish.

4. Preheat the oven grill on HI heat.

3. Combine the butter, honey, cinnamon, water, orange juice and zest in a bowl.

4. Decant over the waiting figs and place them under the hot grill to blister for 5-6 minutes. Set aside until they are ready to be serve.

5. Heat a small drizzle of oil and a knob of butter in a frying pan together. Cook the egg-soaked bread slices over MED heat for 2 minutes on each side or until golden.





Serve the French toast with a generous dollop of yoghurt, a fig with sauce and a sprinkling of Cardamom Pistachio Sugar.
