  • Slowly simmer a traditional beef gulasch by sweating 5 sliced onions, adding 4tbsp blend and 1.5kg slow-cooking cut of beef, veal or scotch roast pork, before adding 800mL chicken broth and 2-4 tsp cornflour, before cooking for at least 2 hours.
  • Use 1 tbsp per 500g meat for stews, braises and tomato-based sauces.
  • Also delicious with slow-cooked lamb, vegetable braises, minestrone soup and rich red pasta sauces.

Our great grandmother Rosa taught us how to make this traditional Hungarian gulyás and we still love it! With classic flavours of paprika and aromatic stewing spices of onion, garlic, celery and bay leaf, this versatile blend may also be used to braise meats and vegetables, and to flavour any tomato-based dishes such as minestrone and red sauces.

Flavour Notes: Earthy, savoury, mildly smoky

FAQs

Not spicy at all. Hungarian gulasch is built on sweet paprika and aromatics, not chilli.

Absolutely. It's brilliant with mushrooms, lentil stews and minestrone soup.

In Hungary, gulyás is a paprika-rich soup-stew. The westernised 'goulash' is usually thicker, with added tomato, more like a casserole.
