Gewürzhaus exists to inspire and nurture cooking at home.

We're home to hundreds of specialty spice blends you won’t find anywhere else, as well as over 250 single-origin spices, herbs, salts, peppers and teas. We bring flavours from all corners of the world and blend and mill them in Melbourne, to be shared with home cooks across Australia.

Our love and exploration of food inspired us to open our first store in Melbourne in 2010. All these years later, we're still doing the same thing: collecting new flavours and scents, testing them in our kitchen, and finding new ways to cook at home. We’ll never stop wondering what else there is to taste, cook with and share.

Our Commitment To Quality

Our spices are milled and blended by us in Melbourne and are 100% natural and preservative free. They contain the spice and nothing else - we never use fillers, anti-caking agents, artificial ingredients or preservatives. We work with trusted herb and spice producers around the world, sourcing from the regions best suited to growing them well. We look for freshness, flavour and consistency in everything we produce to bring the world's flavours to you.

Our Heritage

Cooking from the home and the heart has always been an integral part of preserving traditions for four generations of women in our family. This goes all the way back to our great grandmother, Oma Rosa, a baker by trade, and our Oma Liesel, who nurtured us in the kitchen from day dot. These women, in many ways, laid down the foundations of Gewürzhaus all the way back when, putting care, love and courage into the meals they prepared for their families. Many years later in 2010, we - Maria and Eva - and our mother, Gabi, opened the first Gewürzhaus store on Carlton’s Lygon Street with that rich European heritage very much in our hearts.
