Avoid grinding over steaming pots, as moisture may clog the mechanism
If the mechanism clogs, loosen it and clean it with a small brush
Never use salt in a pepper mill. Salt mills are suitable for dry sea salt or rock salt, but not wet salt or salt flakes
The metal casing will naturally oxidise over time. Polish with a suitable metal cleaner, or remove heavier corrosion with a scouring pad, then wipe clean and dry
